Song of Solomon (2:1 to 2:17)
I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.
Like the lily among thorns, so is my love.
Like the apple tree among the woods of the forest, so is my Beloved.
I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
He brought me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me was love.
Let me lean agsint the stout trunks, let me recline among the apple trees, for I am sick with love.
His left hand is under my head, and his right hand embraces me.
I say to you, Daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and by the deer of the field: Do not stir or awaken love until it so desires.
Listen! The voice of my beloved! behold, he comes leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills. My Beloved is like a gazelle or a young deer. There he stands behind our wall, he looks in at the window, he peers through the lattice.
My Beloved spoke and said to me,
"Rise up, my Love, my fair one, and come away.
For the winter is past; and the rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing bird has come, and the voice of the dove is heard in our land.
The fig tree puts forth her green figs; the vines in blossom give their scent. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away."
My Love who art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for sweet is your voice, and lovely is your face.
Take us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom.
I am my Beloved’s, and my Beloved is mine; he browses among the lilies.
Before the day cools, and the shadows flee away, turn, my Beloved, and be like a gazelle or like a young stag on the rugged hills.
